Job summary

East Nashville Hope Exchange is seeking part‑time tutors to support literacy intervention for students in after‑school and school year programs.

Currently a 3rd or 4th year college student majoring in Elementary Education, Secondary Education, or Special Education is encouraged to apply. Commitment is Monday–Thursday, with a monthly parent meeting and a background check. Transportation to tutoring sites is required.

Are you a 3rd or 4th year college student studying to become an educator? We want you on our team!

East Nashville Hope Exchange is a literacy intervention program serving students during the summer and throughout the school year. We are in search of tutors for our after-school program.

Job Responsibilities

This school year, we’re looking to hire 4 rising educators to join our team and help fulfill our program’s mission to help academically vulrnerable students read on or above grade level.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  • Currently a 3rd or 4th year college student majoring in Elementary Education, Secondary Education, or Special Education
  • A genuine passion for children’s literacy and education
  • Dedicated, punctual, and reliable
  • A self-starter with strong leadership qualities
  • Strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to connect with young learners
  • Comfortable working one-on-one or in small groups with students
  • Able to commit to a Monday–Thursday tutoring schedule for the full school year
  • Available to attend a required parent engagement meeting once per month
  • Prior tutoring, mentoring, or classroom experience a plus (not required)
  • Willingness to complete a background check
  • Reliable transportation to and from our tutoring site(s)
