Job summary

Oberlin City School District is seeking a Literacy Aide V to support instructional activities under the principal at the Oberlin Board of Education Central Office. This role assists in literacy interventions and classroom activities, helping students stay engaged and safe.

The ideal candidate will hold the required Ohio certification or a related degree, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, and be prepared to collaborate with teachers and families to improve student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Must hold valid Ohio Educational Aide Certificate with the addition of the ESEA endorsement or hold a Bachelor's degree ODE issued license/certificate.
• ESEA endorsement requires completion of ParaPro assessment and reporting test scores to the Ohio Department of Education.
• Associate degree or at least 48 semester hours from an accredited institution acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Under direction of instructor, monitor and/or implement instructional activities in groups or one-to-one situations.
• Provide for the safety of the students.
• Supervise children in instructional or school-related settings.
• Design and produce instructional materials to meet student needs.
• Recommend academic interventions for the overall instructional program.
• Provide strategies to students in organizational and study skills.
• Use appropriate behavior management techniques with students.
• Assist with data collection, charts, informal assessments, and anecdotal records.
• May participate in team meetings as necessary.
• Provide ongoing feedback and monitor student progress.
• Maintain and organize instructional materials and equipment.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned by teachers and principals.
• Attend up to four inservice/orientation meetings annually on a voluntary basis.
