Job summary

Peabody Public Schools is seeking a Literacy Tutor for the Carroll School in Peabody, MA. The position is Title I grant-funded through the end of the current school year, with a start date of immediately.

The tutor will work 19.5 hours per week at $25/hour under the supervision of the Building Principal and Title I Director. The candidate should hold at least a Bachelor's Degree in education (preferred) and possess strong interpersonal, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferably in education)
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative problem solving skills
  • Successful prior experience working with general education students
  • Knowledge of best practices in teaching and learning and the ability to apply these practices
  • Ability to plan student lessons and work independently with individuals and groups
  • Commitment to the District’s goals and school improvement plan goals
  • Bilingualism is a highly desired skill but not required

Responsibilities

  • Instruct at-risk individuals or small groups using prepared lesson plans within the regular classroom and occasionally other settings
  • Facilitate instructional programs under supervision of teachers, Title I Director and Building Principal
  • Document student performance and progress in collaboration with teachers and individualized programs
  • Plan instructional activities and administer assessments with classroom teachers
  • Meet regularly with staff to coordinate interdisciplinary programs and activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee

Job Description

POSITION: Literacy Tutor (Title I grant-funded tothe end of this school year)

REPORTS TO: Building Principal andTitle I Director

SALARY: $25.00 per hour

HOURS: 19.5hours per week, until the end of this school year

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Using prepared lesson plans, instruct at-risk individuals or small groups of students within the regular classroom and occasionally other settings.
