Job summary

United Way of Southern Nevada invites qualified mentors to support K-5 students in literacy using a pre-determined curriculum, conducting small-group sessions during reading intervention blocks at partner schools in Southern Nevada.

Part-time, 7:30 am–3:30 pm, Monday–Friday, mid-September 2026 to end of May 2027; mentors will lead activities, assess progress, and collaborate with school staff to help raise third-grade reading scores and foster resilience and lifelong learning.

• Willingness to learn and collaborate with staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead groups of students using the curriculum and training.
• Develop age-appropriate activities based on needs.
• Provide a safe, respectful learning space.
• Facilitate and score assessments.
• Review data and set goals for students.
• Submit data by deadlines and communicate with staff.
• Attend required trainings and represent UWSN.
