Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Literacy Coaching Specialist in Indiana to deliver field-based coaching and professional learning to K–8 literacy coaches, translating the science of reading into classroom practice.

The role partners with the Central Indiana Educational Service Center (CIESC) and CELL University of Indianapolis, funded through June 30, 2028, focusing on coaching, feedback, and data-informed problem solving.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of classroom teaching experience.
  • Minimum 2 years in instructional coaching or literacy leadership roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, literacy, or related field.
  • Teaching or administrator license preferred.
  • Literacy credential/endorsement preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, on-site coaching and professional learning to literacy coaches.
  • Translate science of reading into high-quality classroom practice.
  • Strengthen coaching quality, fidelity, and district capacity.
  • Engage regularly with coaches and school leaders; provide feedback and problem-solving guidance.
  • Maintain required documentation and communication.
  • Support statewide literacy initiatives (K–8) implementation.
