Job summary

Norwalk Public Schools is seeking a Literacy Coach at Silvermine Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year. The role focuses on facilitating student-centered reading and writing instruction and coaching teachers to implement the district's curriculum.

The Literacy Coach will be part of the Instructional Leadership Team, supporting leaders and teachers to meet diverse learners’ needs through high-quality instruction, progress monitoring, and targeted supports.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of strategic literacy teaching and standards-based assessment.
• Experience coaching teachers and facilitating professional learning.
• Ability to analyze student data to identify needs and plan supports.
• Experience applying adult learning principles to teacher development.
• Proven track record of improving reading and writing progress.
• Collaborates effectively with school leaders, teachers and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide job-embedded PD and coaching to implement the district's literacy curriculum.
• Serve on the Instructional Leadership Team to support the School Improvement Plan.
• Support diverse learners in accessing core curriculum.
• Review student data to identify needs and adjust instruction.
• Collaborate with Reading/Writing Improvement Teacher to align interventions.
• Create articulated schedules with school leaders.
• Attend regular professional learning workshops.
