Job summary

Eaton RESA is seeking a Literacy Coach to partner with LEAs to strengthen literacy instruction and improve student outcomes through job-embedded coaching and implementation support. This role collaborates with district leaders, principals, and educators to build instructional capacity aligned with Michigan's Literacy Essentials and the Science of Reading.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Literacy, Reading, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership, or closely related field.
• Advanced coursework or professional learning in evidence-based literacy instruction and the Science of Reading.
• Minimum five (5) years of successful experience supporting literacy instruction in PreK‑12 settings.
• Minimum two (2) years of successful instructional coaching or facilitating adult professional learning.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary literacy coach for assigned districts by providing sustained, job-embedded coaching to strengthen educator practice and district implementation of evidence-based literacy instruction.
• Facilitate coaching cycles through classroom observations, modeling, co-teaching, planning, feedback, and reflective practice.
• Build collaborative partnerships with teachers, principals, instructional leaders, and district teams to improve literacy instruction and outcomes.
• Support districts in implementing Michigan's Literacy Essentials and evidence-based practices aligned with the Science of Reading.
• Maintain knowledge of evidence-based literacy practices and Michigan standards across PreK–12.
• Demonstrate assessment literacy by supporting the use of formative, screening, diagnostic, and progress-monitoring assessments to inform instruction.
• Promote data-driven instructional planning, MTSS implementation, and continuous improvement.
• Travel to constituent districts; evening or summer work may be required.
