Job summary

Center for Student Achievement Solutions is seeking experienced Literacy Coach Consultants to provide onsite, job-embedded coaching and professional development in NYC public schools. Candidates should bring deep knowledge of the Science of Reading and proven classroom experience with structured literacy programs.

Ideal applicants will have taught early grades using phonics programs such as UFLI, Heggerty, or Fundations and will be available for onsite school visits in New York City.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Literacy, Special Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field.
• 5+ years of K–3 classroom teaching experience, within the past 10 years.
• 3+ years of coaching or PD facilitation experience.
• Expertise in the Science of Reading and structured literacy practices.
• Proficiency using diagnostic and progress-monitoring tools.

Responsibilities

• Deliver onsite coaching to K–3 teachers aligned to school and district literacy goals.
• Model and co-plan evidence-based lessons that align with the Science of Reading.
• Facilitate 1:1 coaching and team-level PD sessions.
• Support the implementation of core phonics and literacy intervention programs.
• Analyze data (e.g., Acadience, mCLASS) and support data-driven instruction.
• Build teacher capacity through reflective conversations and actionable feedback.

About The Role

We are seeking highly qualified, experienced K–5 literacy experts to serve as Literacy Coach Consultants providing onsite, job-embedded coaching and professional development in NYC public schools.

This role is designed for professionals with deep knowledge of the Science of Reading and proven classroom experience implementing structured literacy programs.

If you’ve successfully taught phonics using programs like UFLI, Heggerty, or Fundations, we want to hear from you!

Who Should Apply

• You’ve taught grades K–3 within the last 10 years using structured literacy approaches.
• You’ve directly implemented at least one of the following:
• UFLI Foundations
• Heggerty / Bridge the Gap
• ISME Orton-Gillingham
• Preventing Academic Failure (PAF)
• Fundations
• Really Great Reading
• You’ve coached or led PD for teachers on early literacy best practices.
• You live in New York City and are available for onsite school visits.
• You are not currently employed by the NYC Department of Education.

• Expertise in the Science of Reading and structured literacy practices.
• Proficiency using diagnostic and progress-monitoring tools.
• Must be fingerprinted and approved in the NYC DOE PETS system.
