Job summary

Pathologists’ Regional Laboratory in Lewiston, Idaho, is seeking a full-time LIS/IT support specialist to assist with day-to-day Laboratory Information System operations. The role focuses on LIS infrastructure, testing, validation, user support, and collaboration with the IS Manager to ensure data integrity and HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day LIS/IT operations and testing/validation.
  • Provide LIS/IT training or staff education as needed.
  • Resolve LIS problems through careful analysis to identify and implement solutions.
  • Collaborate with IS Manager and stakeholders to ensure data flows are tested and approved.
  • Support LIS infrastructure and equipment maintenance and upgrades.
  • Deliver superior customer service to clients and staff.

Job description

Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

Location:

Lewiston, Idaho

Primary Function:

Assist with the day-to-day Laboratory Information System (LIS) and related system operations and projects. This position reports to the Information Systems (IS) Manager and is responsible for application support for the laboratory, including LIS infrastructure and equipment.

Work Performed:
  • Follow and demonstrate PRL’s core values, which includes mutual respect and teamwork, a collegial work environment, and commitment to staff and patient safety.
  • Understand and adhere to all safety and HIPAA related standards to ensure high quality patient care.
  • Help maintain integrity of databases and dictionaries.
  • Monitor and update dictionaries, calculations, QA parameters, billing files.
  • Help manage and triage issues related to the LIS and other systems, equipment, and programs.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure data flows are thoroughly tested, reviewed, and approved.
  • Assist with testing and validation of interfaces.
  • Assist with testing and validation of LIS system upgrades or changes.
  • Work proactively to ensure all relevant functionalities available in the system are deployed and optimized for the user.
  • Assist with new test requests and builds including coordination with appropriate client interfaces and PRL staff as needed.
  • Assist with new lab instrument test builds and validations.
  • Resolve LIS problems using careful analysis to accurately identify problems and devise best solutions.
  • Provides LIS/IT training or staff education as needed.
  • Effectively collaborates with department and laboratory staff.
  • Provides superior customer service to all clients.
  • Review and comply with department and organizations safety policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Establish and maintain positive patient identification before, during, and after collection.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance and QC of equipment.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of volunteers, students, and new employees as requested.
  • Attend meetings such as in-service meetings, department meetings, etc.
  • Work within the framework of PRL policies and procedures.
  • Report and correct unsafe work conditions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience Background:
  • Strong computer technology background working within LIS/EMR/EHR systems.
  • Knowledge of interface logistics.
  • Strong Microsoft suite skills.
  • Experience with help desk tasks and technology preferred.
  • Ability to pivot and work effectively around disruptions and evolving priorities.

Educational Background:
  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Bachelor of Science or computer related field (preferred).
