Job summary

Pathologists’ Regional Laboratory is seeking a detail-oriented individual to support specimen processing in Core Lab – Lewiston, Idaho. You will handle specimen preparation, labeling, transport coordination, and ensure patient identification and confidentiality throughout the process.

  • Understand and adhere to all safety and HIPAA related standards to ensure high quality patient care.
  • Follow specific guidelines for specimen acceptance and entry into computer system.
  • Prepare specimens for transport.
  • Establish and maintain positive patient identification before, during, and after collection.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance and QC of equipment.
  • Participate in continuing education, Quality of Service and Quality Control Indicators.
  • Complies with established department policies, procedures, and standards of operation; enforces safety and infection control policies and established.
  • Communicate in a professional manner, maintaining patient/client confidentiality.
  • Cooperates with department and laboratory staff to maintain harmonious working relationships among employees.
  • Works with Compliance Officer on issues pertaining to Medicare/Medicaid regulations to assure 100% compliance.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and proficiency in registering and ordering laboratory tests through the laboratory information system.
  • Labels specimens accurately and according to established procedures.
  • Handles requests for special services such as STAT and Timed draw specimens, prudently and efficiently.
  • Ensure the requisition order contains the appropriate information for each patient.
  • Help monitor and stock inventory.
  • Maintain clean and stocked work areas.
  • Courier specimens to and from Core Lab and Tri-State if needed using company vehicle.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Core Lab – Lewiston, Idaho

Primary Function:

Under the direction of the Specimen Processing Supervisor and Clinical Laboratory Manager, support the lab by processing and setting up specimens for testing, performing maintenance, monitoring inventory, and performing other duties as assigned.
