Job summary

Maine State Government is seeking a Liquor Licensing Inspector to ensure compliance with liquor licensing laws across inland communities in York and Cumberland counties. The role focuses on field-based inspections, application reviews, and interactions with licensed businesses to promote public safety.

Responsibilities include inspections, complaint investigations, and preparation of reports. Travel within the district is required; traditional office hours may vary to meet licensing and hearing

Qualifications

• Experience inspecting, investigating, or performing compliance reviews in a regulatory environment.
• Experience interpreting statutes, rules, or policies related to licensing and inspection.
• Experience preparing written reports, findings, or violation documentation.
• Fieldwork involving travel and independent scheduling.
• Public-facing role with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Explain licensing requirements and compliance expectations to applicants, licensees, and the public.
• Conduct on-site inspections to assess compliance with statutes and rules.
• Review license applications and resolve compliance issues with applicants.
• Perform fieldwork across the district, visiting licensed establishments and state offices.
• Investigate complaints and potential violations using interviews and observations.
• Document findings with clear written reports and supporting materials.
• Coordinate inspections with partner agencies as needed.
• Participate in licensing and administrative hearings.
