Job summary

SPL is seeking a motivated Liquid Measurement Technician Trainee in Williston, ND. This role offers hands-on experience in meter installation, proving, sampling, and maintenance within a field-based team.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-minded, and eager to learn measurement systems alongside experienced technicians. Valid driver’s license required; CDL-A preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant vocational training preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in industrial, mechanical, instrumentation, maintenance, construction, oil and gas, or related technical roles.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to learn measurement systems, instrumentation, hand tools, and test equipment.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record; CDL-A preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complete basic gas and/or liquid measurement activities through supervised hands-on training, including meter proving, sampling, verification, and equipment inspections.
  • Prepare meters and proving equipment, complete routine proving steps, record results, and maintain documentation.
  • Assist with equipment installation, calibration, testing, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Use measurement tools, meters, instruments, and test equipment in accordance with training and procedures.
  • Follow on-the-job training, cross-training, and safety requirements.

We're seeking a motivated, enthusiastic Liquid Measurement Technician Trainee to join our team in Williston, ND.

This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically inclined professional to build hands-on experience in measurement operations. Working alongside experienced technicians, you will support activities related to meter installation, calibration, proving, sampling, maintenance, and field and shop activities. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-minded, comfortable with physical fieldwork, and eager to learn technical measurement systems and procedures.

What You'll Do
  • Complete basic gas and/or liquid measurement activities through supervised hands-on training, including meter proving, sampling, verification, and equipment inspections
  • Prepare meters and proving equipment, complete routine proving steps, record results, and maintain required documentation
  • Assist with equipment installation, calibration, testing, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair
  • Use measurement tools, meters, instruments, and test equipment in accordance with training and established procedures
  • Complete required on-the-job training, technical instruction, cross-training, competency evaluations, and qualifications
  • Follow company procedures and applicable regulatory, client, quality, safety, environmental, and PPE requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant vocational or technical education preferred
  • Previous hands-on experience in industrial, mechanical, instrumentation, maintenance, construction, oil and gas, or related technical roles
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to learn measurement systems, instrumentation, hand tools, and test equipment
  • Basic computer skills, including email, data entry, and use of mobile devices, tablets, and laptops
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required; Active CDL-A License preferred
Work Schedule, Travel, & Physical Requirements
  • Full-time, field-based position with daily local travel and driving
  • Ability to work outdoors and perform physical fieldwork in varying weather and environmental conditions
  • Flexible or extended hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional after-hours or on-call training assignments, may be required
  • Overnight travel or assignments in remote or offshore environments may be required based on location and business needs
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform required physical field duties
