Job summary

Hentzen Coatings, Inc. seeks a Lab Technician – Liquid R&D at the Batavia, IL plant. The role focuses on small production and lab batch-making to meet customer specs under health, safety, and environmental procedures.

The position requires 1–3 years in a lab setting (coatings preferred) and an associate-level degree. Pay ranges from $22 to $27 per hour with first shift, and a competitive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

• Preferred education level: Associate's or two-year college degree or equivalent.
• Preferred experience level: One to three years' experience in a laboratory setting preferred and preferably in coatings.

Responsibilities

• Weighs and prepares raw materials to assemble product batches according to formulations.
• Performs batch processing including dispersion, letdown, color matching, testing, and filling (liquid batches 10 gallons or less).
• Evaluates batches for conformance with specs and quality.
• Adjusts batch properties within guidelines to meet performance requirements.
• Conducts routine testing to verify quality.
• Prepare customer samples and panels as requested.
• Document all activities and enter data into systems.
• Maintain clean and safe work environment and PPE compliance.
• Participate in hazardous waste disposal per EHS procedures.
