Join Our Team as an IT Engineer and Make an Impact in Federal Intelligence Operations!

D2 Consulting is seeking a skilled and motivated IT Engineer with a strong background in Microsoft Enterprise Systems Administration and Linux desktop environments to join our high-performing team supporting a Federal Intelligence Agency contract. If you're passionate about both Windows and Linux technologies, eager to work in a collaborative and mission-critical setting, and looking to expand your impact, this opportunity is for you.

Along with a competitive salary and comprehensive health and personal benefits, you\'ll have the chance to sharpen your technical skills while working alongside a team of experienced professionals in a fast-paced and secure environment.

What You\'ll Do:

  • As an IT Engineer, you’ll be a critical player in delivering Tier II support across multiple large enterprise environments that include both Windows and Linux-based desktop and server systems. You will operate within multiple security enclaves in a hybrid Windows & Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environment, ensuring consistent system performance and reliability.
  • Your Primary Responsibilities Will Include:
  • System Administration & Advisory: Administer both Windows and Linux workstations, including EVDI and physical systems, to ensure stability, performance, and security.
  • Linux Desktop Support: Provide direct support for Linux desktop users, resolving issues related to system performance, configuration, software compatibility, and user environment optimization.
  • Troubleshooting & Incident Resolution: Diagnose and resolve issues affecting both Windows and Linux systems, including application crashes, connectivity issues, and performance degradation.
  • User Experience Improvement: Analyze and resolve user issues across platforms, and work with cross-functional teams to implement improvements.
  • Customer Support: Deliver Tier II support for Linux and Windows applications, offering remote desktop assistance and escalating as needed.
  • Proactive Solutions: Identify and implement both immediate and long-term fixes to technical problems, ensuring minimal impact on operations.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work effectively within small and large teams, and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Incident Management: Lead triage, response, and communication for system incidents, contributing to major projects and continuous improvement efforts.

What We\'re Looking For:

We’re looking for an experienced IT professional with hands-on expertise in both Windows and Linux environments, particularly with a strong emphasis on Linux desktop support and troubleshooting.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field – or equivalent technical training, work, or military experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in systems administration supporting both Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance is required.
  • A valid DoD Information Assurance (IA) certification (such as CompTIA Security+ CE, SSCP, or CCNA-Security) is necessary; CompTIA Security+ CE is preferred.
  • Must obtain DoD 8570 Computing Environment (CE) training within 6 months of hire.

Technical Expertise Should Include:

  • Linux Desktop Administration (Red Hat, CentOS, or Ubuntu) – installation, configuration, and user support.
  • Windows 10, Server 2012, Server 2016.
  • Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, DFS, LDAP.
  • Application troubleshooting (Outlook, Excel, Word, Java, browsers).
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow, NETS, or similar ticketing systems.
  • Solid understanding of ITIL v3 or higher.

Bonus Skills (Not Required but a Plus):

  • Experience with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
  • PowerShell or Bash scripting.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Citrix).
  • Experience with profile management tools like VMware UEM.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Exchange and AV/telephony support.
  • Networking fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with agency-specific requirements and secure environments.

Ready to join a mission-focused team and grow your technical career in both Windows and Linux systems administration? Apply today and become part of a community that values innovation, integrity, and service excellence.
