Job summary

Nightwing is seeking a Linux Systems Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain large-scale Linux infrastructure supporting secure networking and remote-access services. You will work across engineering, systems administration, and platform teams to deliver highly available, secure solutions.

The role emphasizes policy-based routing, automation, and modern VPN technologies such as WireGuard, OpenVPN, and IPSec, with a focus on mission-critical environments. A TS/SCI with polygraph is required.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with ability to pass CI Polygraph
• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in CS/IT or related field or equivalent
• Strong Debian/Ubuntu Linux experience
• Experience with dynamic and static routing, VLANs, NAT and firewall policies
• Experience with WireGuard, OpenVPN 2.6+, IPSec, PKI and certificate management
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and independent work in mission-critical environments

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, administer, and maintain enterprise Linux environments
• Develop standardised OS configurations and hardened baseline builds
• Perform OS upgrades, patch management, lifecycle maintenance, and performance optimisation
• Configure and troubleshoot OSPF, routing, VLANs, NAT, and firewall policies
• Analyse network traffic with tcpdump, Wireshark, iproute2, nftables, iptables
• Design, deploy, and support secure VPN infrastructures using OpenVPN, WireGuard, and IPSec
• Automate system provisioning, configuration deployment, and security baseline management
• Integrate SaltStack with CI/CD pipelines and monitoring
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and document configurations
• Contribute to knowledge base articles and best practices
