Linux Systems Engineer - Server Migration

NTT DATA's Client is seeking a Linux Systems Engineer to support a large‑scale data center migration program, relocating physical and virtual servers between facilities with minimal downtime and strong service continuity.

Core Focus

• Plan and execute end‑to‑end server migrations.
• Migrate VMware ESXi hosts and virtual machines using vMotion, Storage vMotion, and cold migration methods.
• Manage iSCSI storage connectivity, LVM‑based storage provisioning, and filesystem validation.
• Build automation and runbooks to make migration workflows repeatable and reliable.
• Troubleshoot performance, application, and infrastructure issues before, during, and after cutover.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and engineer the Linux compute platform across migration phases.
• Coordinate migration waves, rollback plans, and validation checklists.
• Maintain security, stability, and compliance across Linux infrastructure.
• Work with support teams and internal engineering groups to resolve complex issues.
• Contribute to modernization efforts involving Kubernetes, OpenShift, and related platform technologies.

Must‑Have Skills

• 8+ years of overall experience with 4+ years of hands‑on Linux/Unix engineering experience.
• 4+ years of experience with large‑scale server or data center migrations.
• 3+ years of experience in Deep VMware ESXi/vSphere.
• 4+ years of experience in iSCSI networking and LVM expertise.
• Good skills in Bash and Python.
• Good understanding of networking, CI/CD, and container platforms like OpenShift/Kubernetes.

Nice to Have

• Experience with migration tools such as Zerto, Veeam, or vCenter Converter.
• Exposure to public cloud, databases, security tooling, and configuration management platforms like Ansible or Puppet.

Benefits

NTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for U.S.-based positions. The starting pay range for this role is hourly \$55.00 to \$62.00/hr. Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications.
