Job summary

LegalSight is seeking a hands-on Linux Systems Administrator to own and optimize our Linux and virtualization environment, moving from SonicWall to OPNsense, and implementing automation and monitoring. You will manage Linux servers, Proxmox, and the AWS footprint, while expanding security and reliability.

This in-office role requires commuting to Ocean City, NJ two days per week. Ideal candidates have 3+ years of Linux administration, strong scripting skills, and a solid grasp of networking,

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on Linux administration in a production environment.
• Willingness to take ownership and follow through without being chased.
• Strong scripting for automation (Bash required, Python or similar a strong plus).
• Working knowledge of virtualization: Proxmox is ideal, but KVM/hypervisor experience translates.
• Sound networking fundamentals: firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, DNS, and routing.
• Some AWS exposure (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, VPC).
• Curiosity and drive to grow into areas of the stack you haven't mastered yet.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Linux servers (Ubuntu): provisioning, patching, hardening, storage, users/permissions, and day-to-day troubleshooting.
• Manage our Proxmox virtualization environment: VMs and containers, resource allocation, snapshots, backups, and keeping the cluster healthy.
• Own the network edge and firewall: migration from SonicWall to OPNsense, firewall rules, VPN, DNS, and routing.
• Automate routine admin tasks: Bash/Python scripts to automate provisioning and monitoring.
• Set up and maintain monitoring, alerting, logging, and backups/restores.
• Support the infrastructure our engineering team builds upon: Docker hosts, deployment targets, and databases.
• Operate and maintain AWS footprint: EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, and VPC networking while watching cost, security, and reliability.
• Respond to incidents, root causes, and implement fixes to prevent recurrence.
• Document configurations and procedures for maintainability.
