Job summary

SMX is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to manage and secure aircraft/weapons systems networks onsite at Patuxent River NAS, MD. You will administer LAN/WAN, monitor availability, and provide user support in a mission-critical DoD environment.

The role requires 8+ years Linux experience, TS clearance (interim TS acceptable), and familiarity with VMware, SAN, ACAS, STIGs, and Atlassian tools. DoD 8570 certifications and OS certs are expected for this position.

Qualifications

8+ years of Linux experience in a software development environment.
Active Top Secret clearance with interim TS to start.
Experience with Windows Server, VMware/vSphere, SAN, Networking, STIGs, ACAS.
Experience with Atlassian tools.
Knowledge of networking principles and concepts.
CompTIA Security+ or other DoD INST 8570 compliant qualification.
Operating system certification (Windows or Linux).

Responsibilities

Install, configure, and support LAN/WAN and Internet systems or a network segment.
Monitor network availability and respond to outages or issues.
Provide technical assistance to computer users.
Analyze, test, and troubleshoot existing network systems.
Perform maintenance to ensure networks operate with minimal interruption.
Optimize hardware and software performance.
Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans.
