Job summary

ADNET Systems, Inc. seeks a System Administrator to support Linux servers, desktops, and storage at NASA GSFC in Greenbelt, MD. You will coordinate with GSFC network staff on DNS, routing, and security, perform upgrades, patches, backups, and automate common tasks. Onsite work is required to support hardware and tape libraries.

The role requires experience with RedHat/Oracle Linux, Debian, and AWS data transfer, plus continuing IT education or certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in computer science and five to ten years of systems administrator experience.
• RedHat/Oracle Linux and Debian system administration proficiency.
• Understanding of DNS, firewalls, and TCP/IP network administration.
• Maintaining backups of multiple systems.
• AWS cloud experience including S3 bucket management and data transfer.
• Evidence of IT continuing education or certifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform OS upgrades on Linux servers and desktops.
• Interact with GSFC network personnel on DNS, routing, and outages.
• Patch, upgrade, and configure software to GSFC IT security policies.
• Port software between platforms and OSes.
• Install applications and hardware.
• Diagnose and resolve computer/network issues for local and remote users.
• Execute and manage system backups.
• Automate routine administration tasks to improve efficiency.
• Create documentation for SDAC personnel (SharePoint, Wiki).
• Manage and monitor data transfer to AWS and on-premises/offline tape storage.
