Job summary

Dexian Government Solutions is recruiting a Linux Systems Administrator to support the USAMRIID contract at Fort Detrick, MD. You will manage Linux (RHEL), virtualization, storage, and HPC elements in a DoD security conscious environment.

The role requires 5+ years in Linux admin, an active Secret clearance to start, and an IAT II certification. Expect hands-on duties with 99.9% uptime, STIG compliance, and collaboration with government stakeholders.

Dexian Government Solutions. is recruiting for a Linux Systems Administrator to support our contract at the USAMRIID in Fort Detrick, MD.

Target Salary: $100,000.00

Position Overview:

Dexian Government Solutions is seeking a skilled Linux Systems Administrator to support mission-critical infrastructure at USAMRIID, located at Ft. Detrick in Frederick, MD. USAMRIID is DoD's premier maximum-containment (BSL-4) laboratory, developing and evaluating medical countermeasures, rapid diagnostics, and biodefense expertise to protect the force against current and emerging biological threats. This role requires a hands‑on engineer with experience across Linux, virtualization, storage, and HPC environments who can operate independently with minimal ramp-up.

Job Duties:

Systems Administration & Infrastructure

• Install, configure, and maintain Linux (RHEL)
• Manage VxRail (VMware/vCenter) infrastructure ensuring 99.9% uptime
• Perform system hardening, STIG compliance, and patching across multiple networks.
• Monitor system health, logs, and endpoint security tools (e.g., CrowdStrike).
• Familiarity with Windows Server 2019, 2022 environments.

Enterprise Storage & Data Center Operations

• Design, implement, and maintain SAN/NAS storage environments (file and block storage)
• Manage enterprise storage platforms such as Dell Isilon (OneFS), ECS (Superna/Golden Copy), or similar Dell Hyperconverged systems EMC Unity and Data Domain (IDPA).
• Support backup and recovery solutions (e.g., Avamar, Veeam).

HPC (High Performance Computing) Environment

• Administer and support HPC clusters, including compute, head, and login nodes.
• Manage job schedulers (e.g., SLURM, PBS) and cluster provisioning tools (e.g., Bright Cluster Manager).
• Experience with Docker and Singularity container platforms.
• Monitor and tune performance across HPC systems (CPU, memory, I/O, network).
• Assist with installation and troubleshooting of open-source scientific and bioinformatics applications.
• Develop and maintain SOPs for HPC operations and maintenance.
• Provide technical guidance on HPC architecture, performance, and future enhancements.
• Utilize HPC management tools like Bright and iDRAC.

Networking & Troubleshooting

• Provide advanced troubleshooting for network, server, and application issues.
• Resolve 80%+ of issues without escalation, demonstrating strong independent problem-solving.
• Support connectivity troubleshooting across enterprise environments.

Active Directory & User Support

• Manage Active Directory (users, groups, permissions) for large environments.
• Support DoD Enterprise Email and account-related issues.

Monitoring & Tools

• Utilize monitoring tools such as PRTG, SolarWinds, or equivalent.
• Ensure system availability, performance, and reliability across all platforms.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Contribute to task prioritization, status reporting, and operational planning.
• Collaborate with government stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of Linux system administration experience.
• An Active Secret security Clearance is Required to Start.
• An IAT II Certification, example CompTIA Security+ certification, is Required to Start.
• Advanced knowledge of Linux OS, shell scripting, and command-line tools.
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM, etc.).
• Solid understanding of networking protocols and troubleshooting.
• Ability to resolve issues independently with minimal escalation.
• Familiarity with installing and troubleshooting Linux and Python applications is preferred.
• Prior experience supporting development efforts.
