Job summary

ByteDance's System Technologies and Engineering team seeks an experienced Operating System Engineer to develop the Linux OS for dense datacenter servers. You will collaborate globally to adapt the OS, test frameworks, deployment, and maintenance systems for bare metal and third‑party cloud servers.

Responsibilities include migrating drivers to ByteDance kernel, reviewing kernel and OS components, and building QA, image build, and deployment platforms while serving as escalation point for OS

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related majors.
• Experience in Linux operating system development or similar fields preferred.
• Familiar with Computer Architecture and server development life cycle.
• Knowledge of Linux kernel mechanisms, systemd, and glibc.
• Proficiency in at least one of C/C++, Go, Python, Java.

Responsibilities

• Migrate device drivers and OS components to ByteDance kernel and Linux OS distribution.
• Participate in regular code reviews for Linux Kernel and OS components.
• Contribute to design and development of OS image build, QA, and deployment systems.
• Act as primary escalation point for OS issues, coordinating with internal teams.
