Job summary

RCT Systems in Chantilly, VA is seeking a senior Linux/infrastructure engineer to support a classified mission environment. The role focuses on Linux engineering, virtualization, security compliance, and automation within a hybrid on-prem/cloud footprint.

You will manage Linux servers and VMware, participate in day-to-day operations and engineering projects, provide Tier 2-4 support, and create documentation for review boards, with ServiceNow for incident management.

Qualifications

• TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance is required.
• Experience with VMware vCenter and NSX-T is essential.
• Strong knowledge of Active Directory and core DNS/DHCP services.
• Experience applying DISA STIGs and security baselines.
• Proven infrastructure operations and maintenance background.
• Familiarity with Splunk, Check_MK, McAfee ePO, and BitLocker.
• ServiceNow usage for requirements and incident management.

Responsibilities

• Engineer and support Linux servers/workstations, especially Debian-based systems.
• Provide Tier 2–4 troubleshooting and incident resolution.
• Manage VMware vCenter and NSX-T virtualization infrastructure.
• Support AD, DNS, DFS, and DHCP services across data centers and cloud.
• Maintain systems per DISA STIGs and security requirements.
• Operate infrastructure across data centers and AWS, monitor performance.
• Handle data-center tasks including hardware, cabling, and asset management.
• Support virtual servers, Horizon VDI, and automation initiatives.
• Coordinate projects, manage risks, and prepare technical documentation for review boards.
• Use ServiceNow for requirements, incidents, and change processes.

Job description

This is a senior Linux/infrastructure engineering role supporting a classified mission environment. The primary focus is Linux engineering plus infrastructure operations, virtualization, security compliance, and automation.

The team operates a hybrid on-prem/cloud environment with multiple data centers, commercial/Government/custom applications, and a large data lake. The engineer will provide Tier 2-4 support and participate in both day-to-day operations and larger engineering projects.

Key responsibilities

• Engineer and support Linux servers and workstations, particularly Debian.
• Provide Tier 2-4 troubleshooting and incident resolution.
• Manage VMware vCenter and NSX-T virtualization infrastructure.
• Support Active Directory, DNS, DFS, and DHCP.
• Maintain systems according to DISA STIGs and security requirements.
• Operate and maintain infrastructure across data centers and AWS.
• Monitor infrastructure performance/utilization and maintain accurate inventories.
• Handle data-center tasks including hardware installation, cabling, commissioning, decommissioning, and property management.
• Support virtual servers, virtual desktops, VMware Horizon VDI, and automation.
• Coordinate engineering projects, technical risks, implementation conflicts, and schedules.
• Create/present technical documentation to review and approval boards.
• Use ServiceNow for requirements and incident management.
