Job summary

HII Mission Technologies has an immediate opportunity for a Linux System Administrator/DevOps Engineer (Infrastructure Operations) in Warren, MI. The role requires Red Hat Enterprise Linux expertise in a DoD RMF environment, building and automating Linux-based infrastructure that supports development, build and testing environments.

On-site work in Warren, MI is required; no remote work. You will document infrastructure, debug complex interactions, own end-to-end systems, and manage containers

Qualifications

• 3 years relevant experience with Bachelor's in related field; 1 year with Masters in related field; or high school diploma with 7 years experience.
• Practical experience with Docker or OCI container ecosystems.
• Experience administering Linux systems in production or engineering environments.
• Strong experience with Linux system administration from the command line.
• Hands-on experience administering enterprise Linux distributions (e.g., Ubuntu, RHEL, Rocky, Debian).
• Hands-on experience with Ansible automation.
• Experience writing automation scripts in Bash and/or Python.
• Familiarity with Git-based workflows for infrastructure code.
• Experience troubleshooting system, networking, and service-level issues.
• Experience managing systems via CLI without GUI tools.
• Experience with systemd, networking, storage, file systems, package management, SSH and secure remote administration.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD secret security clearance; US citizenship required.

Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will have experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems in a DoD RMF environment. The System Admin will build, operate, and automate Linux-based infrastructure that supports software development, build, and testing environments and maintain system integration lab infrastructure while automating repetitive operational work

This role requires on-site work in Warren, MI and cannot be performed remotely.

Minimum Qualifications

• Expereince managing systems via CLI without reliance on GUI tools
• Experience with: systemd, networking configuration, storage and file systems, package management, SHH and secure remote administrators
• Needs to be able to be certified as an admin for Linux based on DoD requirements
• Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance with the US DoD (must be a US citizen in order to obtain a clearance with the US Gov)

Preferred Requirements

• A secret security clearance with the US DoD
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
• A mindset focused on automation and repeatability
• Comfort operating independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to collaborate effectively with software engineers
• A practical, hands-on approach to building and maintaining infrastructure
• Experience with AWS and deploying using terraform is a positive but not required
• Experience with Kubernetes is a plus but not required

Physical Requirements

• Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the Systems Analyst discipline.
