Job summary

Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems is seeking a Software Engineering professional to join the Manassas, VA team supporting United States Navy programs. The role focuses on Linux-based software development, security hardening, and DevOps practices, with occasional Java/C++/Python coding to support program needs.

The position requires strong teamwork, Linux expertise, and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance. Location is Manassas, VA with full-time employment.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree from an accredited college or equivalent with 2 years of professional experience; or related Masters degree.
• Proficiency with the Linux OS.
• Experience with Bash and Python.
• U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain DoD Secret Security Clearance.
• Knowledge of AI prompting as it applies to this position.

Responsibilities

• Work in an agile development team supporting design and development efforts.
• Develop custom OS solutions by configuring Red Hat Linux to fit customer needs.
• Apply cyber security hardening to the Linux OS.
• Create virtual machines and containers to support customer OSes.
• Develop shell scripts and Ansible Playbooks to deploy and configure OS environments.
• Automate development and deployment of Linux OS and inject DevOps practices into the process.
• Some code development in Java, C++, or Python to support the program.
