Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin's Applied Research Laboratories seeks a Linux Network Engineering Scientist Associate to design, develop, test, integrate and document modern TCP/IP Linux network systems for the Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL).

The role involves configuring high‑performance Linux networking equipment, testing and profiling to meet system requirements, providing local and remote support, and maintaining thorough documentation for secure, scalable networks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Experience designing, configuring, troubleshooting, testing, validating and documenting TCP/IP networks.
  • Knowledge of network stack, addressing, link-layer protocols, routing, transport protocols and services.
  • Experience with Linux and network security fundamentals.
  • Experience with network monitoring, profiling and load balancing.
  • US Citizenship
  • Eligibility for government security investigation for access to classified information.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop TCP/IP Linux network systems for the Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL).
  • Design and configure Linux network systems equipment for high performance and security.
  • Test, troubleshoot, integrate and profile Linux network systems to meet system requirements.
  • Document and configure manage Linux network systems equipment.
  • Provide local and remote technical support of Linux network system design and implementation.
  • Other related functions as assigned.
