Job summary

Ampcus Inc. is seeking an experienced Linux System Engineer to support a large-scale data center server migration initiative in Salt Lake City. You will plan and execute physical and virtual server migrations, administer VMware ESXi, manage Linux storage and automation, and contribute to CI/CD workflows.

Responsibilities include migration planning, ESXi/vSphere operations, iSCSI/LVM management, and collaboration with application owners to minimize downtime while ensuring security and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute end-to-end server migrations across data centers.
• Migrate physical servers, ESXi hosts, and virtual machines with minimal service disruption.
• Administer VMware ESXi/vSphere environments, including vMotion, Storage vMotion, DRS, HA, and cross-site VM migrations.
• Configure, troubleshoot, and migrate iSCSI storage networks, including multipathing, CHAP authentication, and performance optimization.
• Manage Linux LVM for storage provisioning, resizing, snapshots, migrations, and validation.
• Develop automation tools and scripts to streamline migration activities and infrastructure provisioning.
• Create migration runbooks, rollback procedures, validation checklists, and maintenance plans.

• Support modernization initiatives involving OpenShift, Kubernetes, and other emerging technologies.
• Troubleshoot complex Linux infrastructure, virtualization, storage, and networking issues during migration activities.

• Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems and Linux internals.
• Hands-on experience with VMware ESXi/vSphere administration.

Work Schedule
