  • Experience with architecture, implementation, and operation of Linux-based compute environments, including deep understanding of Linux OS internals.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with VMware ESXi - vSphere, including ESXi host builds, VM provisioning, vMotion, storage vMotion, DRS, HA, and cross-site ESXi and VM migration techniques.
  • In-depth knowledge of iSCSI storage networking, including iSCSI initiator/target configuration, multipathing (DM-Multipath), network segmentation for storage traffic, jumbo frames, and troubleshooting iSCSI connectivity issues.
  • Expert-level understanding of logic volume manager including physical volume, volume group, and logical volume management; LVM snapshots; vgexport/vgimport; thin provisioning; and LVM-based backup and restore strategies.
  • In-depth knowledge of advanced networking concepts (TCP/IP routing, firewalls, load balancing) and traditional storage platforms.
  • Proven experience with containerization technologies and tools, such as OpenShift, Kubernetes, and Docker, including orchestration and management at scale.
  • Strong understanding of software development and CI/CD tools including Git, Subversion, Maven, and Jenkins.

Responsibilities

  • Own and engineer the Linux platform during server migrations for stability, security, and performance.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute end-to-end server migrations including physical servers, ESXi hosts, and virtual machines.
  • Migrate VMware ESXi environments with vMotion, storage vMotion, and cross-site migrations across data center sites.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and migrate iSCSI storage networks ensuring connectivity, multipathing, CHAP authentication, and performance.
  • Develop automation tooling to streamline migration tasks and implement repeatable infrastructure workflows.
  • Develop and execute migration runbooks, rollback plans, and validation checklists within defined maintenance windows.
  • Collaborate with internal clients and partner teams to understand needs and deliver effective migration solutions.
  • Contribute to post-migration target architecture with Kubernetes/OpenStack and emerging technologies.
  • Perform proactive monitoring and optimization to ensure peak performance across migrations.
