Job summary

Calance is seeking an Infrastructure Operations Engineer to join our Technology & Information Services team in Las Vegas. The role focuses on implementing, maintaining, and decommissioning server and storage systems, with hybrid work options and in-office presence in Las Vegas.

The candidate will lead operational initiatives, mentor engineers, and serve as escalation point for complex infrastructure issues, ensuring secure, reliable platforms across a global technology footprint.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Technology or related field.
• Microsoft Certification or equivalent experience, preferably.
• VMware Certification (VCP) or equivalent experience, preferably.
• ITIL Foundation
• Experience with Active Directory in large MS environment.
• 5+ years installing, maintaining, and supporting Windows servers.
• 5+ years installing, maintaining, and supporting enterprise server, storage and backup systems (Dell).
• 5+ years with VMware & related technologies (NSX, vSAN).
• 5+ years with Linux (RHEL) and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure incidents and coordinate with Design, Engineering, and vendors for timely resolution.
• Monitor health, performance, and capacity of infrastructure systems to minimize downtime.
• Plan and execute hardware/software refreshes, migrations, and decommissioning.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, inventories, and topology diagrams.
• Identify operational challenges and implement effective solutions.
• Mentor and develop engineers, acting as escalation point for complex issues.
• Lead projects and operational initiatives from planning to review.
• Coordinate workstreams and ensure deliverables are met on time.

Job description

The Infrastructure Operations Engineer is an integral part of our client's Technology & Information Services team. This role will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance, support, and decommissioning of physical and virtual server and storage systems, ensuring that these platforms are consistently configured, secure, and reliable across the organization’s global technology platform, while performing routine operational tasks, including system patching, upgrades, backups, and recovery testing, in line with company policies and change management processes.

This role also provides opportunities to develop leadership skills through mentoring colleagues, leading operational initiatives, coordinating team activities, and supporting management in the delivery of strategic and operational objectives, preparing individuals for future leadership responsibilities within the Infrastructure Operations function.

This role will be located in the Las Vegas office. Please note that this role is eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Other key responsibilities include:

• Troubleshooting complex infrastructure incidents and service requests, working closely with Design and Engineering Team and vendors to drive timely resolution and root cause analysis
• Monitoring the health, performance, and capacity of infrastructure systems, proactively identifying and resolving issues to minimize downtime and service disruption
• Supporting infrastructure lifecycle management, including hardware and software refreshes, migrations, and decommissioning, in accordance with firm standards and project timelines
• Maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date technical documentation, including standard operating procedures, system inventories, configuration records, and topology diagrams
• Identifying technical and operational challenges and implement effective solutions
• Working with the Infrastructure Operations Manager to support, mentor and develop engineers to enhance team capability and performance
• Acting as a technical leader and escalation point for complex infrastructure issues
• Leading projects and operational initiatives from planning through implementation and review
• Planning, coordinating, and monitoring operational workstreams, ensuring tasks are appropriately assigned, progress is tracked, and deliverables are completed within agreed timeline
• Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that the company retains

• Possess the analytical skills needed to troubleshoot a variety of symptoms, diagnose problems, and test, recommend and implement solutions to technology problems

And have:

• ITIL Foundation
• Bachelor's degree or Higher Education Diploma in Information Technology or related field; equivalent work experience can be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree
• Microsoft Certification or equivalent experience, preferably
• VMWare Certification (VCP) or equivalent experience, preferably
• A minimum of seven (7) years’ progressive computer systems management and support experience, preferably in a multi-site enterprise-scale environment
• A minimum of five (5) years’ experience of installing and maintaining Windows servers, including operating system installation, configuration, administration, maintenance and troubleshooting
• A minimum of five (5) years’ experience of installing, maintaining, and supporting Enterprise server, storage and backup systems - in particular Dell servers, storage and backup systems; experience of Storage Area Networking, PURE Storage arrays, preferably
• A minimum of five (5) years’ experience with Active Directory in a large multi-site Microsoft environment, including, but not limited to, understanding and supporting directory services, DHCP, DNS, and Group Policies
• A minimum of five (5) years’ experience of installing, maintaining, and supporting high availability systems using VMware
• Experience with VMWare NSX, vSAN and other vSphere supporting technologies
• A minimum of five (5) years’ experience installing, maintaining, and supporting RHEL Linux and Kubernetes based systems
