Job summary

Moderna Therapeutics is seeking an experienced Linux systems engineer to design, deploy, and optimize enterprise Linux environments across on‑premises and cloud platforms. You will troubleshoot complex issues, automate operations, and collaborate with global teams to ensure secure, scalable infrastructure supporting research and production.

You will work with Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, and Terraform, while integrating with Active Directory and managing certificate services, with on‑call

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3–5 years of professional experience supporting Linux in a mixed OS environment.
• Strong understanding of multiple Linux distros and core services/daemons.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot system, network, and performance issues.
• Experience with patch management, endpoint protection, compliance and server hardening.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical owner for enterprise Linux systems across on‑premises and cloud environments.
• Design, install, configure, and maintain Linux systems for research and production.
• Root-cause analysis and advanced troubleshooting for system, network, and authentication issues.
• Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance through configuration management and monitoring.
• Automate infrastructure operations using shell scripting, Ansible, Python, Terraform, or other IaC tools.
• Support containerized environments with Docker, Podman, and Kubernetes.
• Integrate Linux systems with Active Directory; configure Kerberos, LDAP, NSS, and PAM; manage TLS/SSL certificates.
• Develop implementation plans, scripts, and testing procedures; maintain documentation.
