Job summary

BridgeView is seeking a Senior Linux Engineer to design, implement, and secure Linux infrastructure across bare metal, virtual, and cloud environments. You will lead automation, monitoring, and vulnerability remediation to support research, testing, and business operations.

You will harden systems, manage patching and incident response, and maintain platforms such as GitLab, LibreNMS, Nagios, and Splunk. Collaboration across development, security, and operations is essential.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on Linux systems engineering in production, enterprise, lab, or mission-critical environments.
• Experience administering, patching, securing, and troubleshooting Linux servers at scale, with vulnerability management.
• Strong scripting and automation skills, with experience in infrastructure-as-code, source control, and monitoring/alerting tools.
• Strong documentation and communication skills, with ability to work independently and manage multiple systems or projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with development, security, infrastructure, lab, and operations teams to reduce operational risk.
• Evaluate and introduce new Linux technologies where appropriate.
• Document fixes to prevent recurrence of incidents.

Preferred Skills:

• Strong knowledge of a major Linux distribution and enterprise licensing and vendor coordination.
• Experience with configuration management, infrastructure-as-code, virtualization, and containerization.
• Experience with backup and recovery platforms, cloud platforms, and CI/CD or DevOps practices.
• Experience developing monitoring and reporting automation, supporting SSL certificate lifecycle, lab or research-oriented infrastructure, and disaster recovery planning.
• 7+ years of Linux systems engineering experience, including prior senior or lead-level responsibility.
• Strong technical judgment and ownership mindset, balancing day-to-day operational support with long-term improvements in reliability, security, and automation.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with ability to mentor peers, drive technical decisions across teams, and manage competing priorities.
