Job summary

WITEKIO is seeking a Linux Embedded Engineer to join its global team. You will develop middleware in C/C++, tailor Yocto and Buildroot, and build drivers and BSPs for diverse embedded hardware.

You’ll work closely with customers and teammates to align schedules and deliverables. The role emphasizes strong embedded C/C++ skills, Yocto/Buildroot expertise, and experience with Linux on ARM, with options for Seattle office or remote in several US states.

Qualifications

• B.S./M.S. in EE/CE/CS or related field required.
• 5+ years of embedded software engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of Yocto and Buildroot.
• Experience with Linux kernel and middleware on ARM.

Responsibilities

• Develop middleware based on C/C++.
• Customize Yocto and Buildroot distributions.
• Develop device drivers for bootloaders and Linux kernels on embedded hardware.
• Create or customize BSPs for clients' hardware for features like updates and security.
• Contribute to low-level software architecture discussions.
• Manage schedules, requirements, and deliverables with teammates and customers.
• Participate in project validation, estimation, and sizing.

Context:

We are seeking a Linux Embedded Engineer to join our team of Witekians, coming from different backgrounds with various hobbies, seniority, and language specialties.

Our team specializes in embedded C / C++, Linux, RTOS, middleware, applications, and cloud technologies. We are involved from the early stages of the project, guiding our customers to meet their needs. We specialize in everything from design to implementation – from creating applications from the ground up to helping customers address complex issues within their existing code bases.

What you will do:

• Develop middleware based on C/C++.
• Customize Yocto and Buildroot distributions.
• Develop device drivers for bootloaders and Linux kernels on various embedded hardware platforms.
• Develop or customize board support packages (BSP) for our clients' hardware to provide additional functionality, such as software updates, enhanced security, and optimization.
• Contribute to low-level software architectural discussions.
• Proactively manage schedules, project requirements, specifications, and deliverables by partnering with your teammates and customers.
• Participate in project validation, estimation, and project sizing to set expectations with your customers.
• Enhance your skills by learning from/with your teammates.

We’re looking for you to bring:

• Yocto and C expertise is a must-have.
• Embedded C++ development experience.
• Proficiency with Linux kernel and middleware development on ARM architecture.
• Experience with embedded design, development, and debugging.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly and accurately to customers.
• MS or BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, and 5 plus year's of experience as an Embedded Software Engineer.
• Knowledge of buildroot.
• Ability to work remotely and communicate effectively with team members and clients.
