Job summary

Viridien, a technology and Earth data company, seeks a Data Center Technician in Houston to install and maintain Linux-based systems for high availability. You will support hardware, network, and automation tasks in a fast-paced HPC environment.

Reporting to the Data Center Coordinator, the role emphasizes troubleshooting, documentation, and collaboration with a small team to ensure reliable operations and scalable infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Some bash scripting experience preferred.
• Experience in HPC environments is a plus.
• Familiarity with automation/configuration management tools (Puppet, Chef, Salt, Ansible, GitLab) is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Install and configure Linux-based hardware and all applicable software.
• Maintain and repair Linux-based systems and associated equipment.
• Use ticket systems for repairs, fixes, and maintenance scheduling.
• Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance.
• Track and report hardware failures and update spare parts database.
• Deploy infrastructure using automated tooling.
