Job summary

Level Up, LLC, a subsidiary of AVIAN, seeks a Linux Administrator to maintain and improve the Sponsor's Linux software and hardware environment, ensuring robust OS integration with hardware and applications across the organization.

The successful candidate will plan, test, install, configure, and harden Linux servers, apply patches promptly, develop test plans, replace hardware as needed, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years configuring and maintaining Linux servers.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline, OR 10 years of related technical experience may be substituted for education.
  • Strong Linux administration experience.
  • Experience with domain account management via Centrify, LDAP, and Active Directory.
  • Experience applying security patches in a Linux environment.
  • Strong shell scripting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, test, install, integrate, and maintain new and upgraded Linux OS versions.
  • Build and harden Linux servers; establish configuration baselines.
  • Apply patches promptly and maintain patch management plans.
  • Develop test plans and procedures.
  • Replace server hardware components when necessary.
  • Test and integrate software and hardware; manage OS lifecycles.
  • Design interfaces to external systems; coordinate with other teams.
  • Document OS configurations and responsibilities; ensure accuracy.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will maintain and improve, as part of the existing Linux team, the Sponsor's Linux software and hardware environment. This includes responsibility for the operating system software and its successful integration with the hardware and applications software across the organization as well as maintaining the servers it runs on.

Qualifications
Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Planning, testing, installing, integrating, and maintaining new and upgraded versions of the relevant operating systems
  • Building and hardening Linux servers, and establishing configuration baselines
  • Applying all appropriate security and firmware patches in a timely manner, and assisting in creating, maintaining, and adhering to the organization's patch management plans
  • Developing test plans and procedures
  • Replacing server hardware components where necessary
  • Testing and integrating software and hardwareManaging operating system lifecycles
  • Establishing, developing, testing, staging, and operating environments
  • Designing interfaces to external systems
  • Researching and resolving operating system problems efficiently and accurately, while adhering to organizational standards and practices
  • Troubleshooting operating system problems, and collaborating with other teams (e.g. application development, network, etc.) to resolve problems across the organization
  • Providing technical support to other teams (e.g. application development, etc.) on requirements for integration into the operating system
  • Maintaining and updating documentation on the operating system configuration and all other areas of responsibility
Required Experience, Skills, & Technologies
  • Minimum of 10 years configuring and maintaining Linux servers

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related discipline, OR 10 years of related technical experience may be substituted for education

  • Strong Linux administration experience

  • Experience working in an organization with complex, intertwined systems and data flows

  • Experience creating, maintaining, and communicating complex information technology documentation

  • Experience with domain account management, particularly via Centrify, LDAP, and Active Directory

  • Experience applying security patches in a Linux environment

  • Strong shell scripting experience

  • Ability to manage a large, complex server environment

  • Experience with the server environment, its hardware components and how/where they are used

  • Understanding how to troubleshoot and replace server hardware if necessary

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively and proactively across a large organization of dispersed teams

Desired Experience, Skills & Technologies
  • Scripting experience with Ansible or similar technologies
Physical Requirement
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Add/remove hardware from in-rack applications
  • Use hands to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
Clearance Required
  • Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

  • TS/SCI with Full Scope Poly required.
