Job summary

Northern Base is seeking a hands-on System Administrator to manage IBM AIX servers and Linux environments in Columbus, OH. You will perform OS management, patching, migrations, and security hardening, while coordinating with cross-functional teams.

The role requires strong virtualization and cloud platform knowledge, plus scripting and automation with Ansible to streamline deployment and compliance workflows.

Qualifications

• Experience managing IBM AIX servers and Linux environments.
• Knowledge of HP hardware and OneView for asset management.
• Familiarity with patching, compliance processes, and security benchmarks.
• Experience with virtualization technologies and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
• Strong ability to interact with customers and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain IBM AIX servers including OS management and migrations.
• Perform AIX patching, HMC patching, and NIM setup and operations.
• Administer Linux servers including patch management, performance tuning, and upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with security benchmarks and audit requirements.
• Manage Satellite servers for patching and system management.
• Provide expert level support for Linux/AIX security including access control and logging.
• Maintain HP physical server infrastructure and virtualization environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and document system configurations.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS and Azure; automate with Ansible.
• Interact with customers and team leaders to improve support quality.

• Good knowledge on patching compliance and processes

Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage and Maintain IBM AIX servers including OS management, Firmware updates and AIX Migrations.
• Perform AIX patching, HMC patching, and NIM setup and Operations.
• Administer Linux servers including patch management, performance tuning, and System upgrades.
• Ensure Compliance with security benchmark.
• Manage Satellite servers for patching and system management.
• Provide expert level support for Linux/AIX system security including access control, audit logging and vulnerability mitigation.
• Manage and troubleshoot HP Physical server infrastructure.
• Good understanding on virtualization technologies.
• Support day to day issues like server hung, unexpected reboot and performance issues for DB hosts.
• Maintain System documentations and collaborate with cross functional teams.
• Familiarity of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure etc.
• Good understanding of Automation tools like Ansible and deep scripting knowledge for configuration management, deployment and Compliance.
• Basic understanding of Dynatrace monitoring tool.
