Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis seeks a Quality Control & Linked Data Librarian to lead catalog and repository maintenance and implement linked data initiatives.

The role focuses on bridging legacy metadata to the library's linked data future and setting priorities with the Head of Metadata Services. You will design, create, and maintain authority records and vocabularies, ensuring compatibility with MARC and non-MARC records while supporting discovery platforms.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education.
• No specific certification/professional licenses required.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes opportunities and challenges and makes recommendations on metadata requirements for implementing linked data and long-term management of collections.
• Creates authority records that meet NACO standards and develops vocabularies for MARC and non-MARC records.
• Develops and analyzes internal reports for catalog and metadata remediation tied to linked data standards.
• Maintains knowledge of linked data, BIBFRAME, and semantic web developments and trains staff on trends and standards.
• Ensures metadata quality and interoperability across repositories and discovery systems.
• Contributes to development and improvement of local cataloging policies and procedures.
• Participates in library-wide training and staff development.
• Performs other technical services duties as assigned.
