Job summary

Pyramid Consulting, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Linguist in Burlingame, CA on a hybrid, 6+ month contract.

The role focuses on providing linguistic expertise for data used in large language models, with collaboration across linguists and data operations teams. Ideal candidates hold a Master’s or PhD in Linguistics, have 4–5 years of linguistics experience, Python, NLP tools, regular expressions, and familiarity with LLMs and prompt engineering; strong communication and data analysis

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Linguistics or related field.
• Experience with ML frameworks, NLP libraries and tools.
• 4-5 years of experience in a Linguist role.
• Experience with conversational assistants, ML support, LLMs.
• Bachelor's degree in Linguistics or related field.
• Experience with regular expression encoding.
• Knowledge of syntax, semantics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, corpus linguistics.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience with SQL and data analysis processes.
• Experience working with speech and text data.
• Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering and applications.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Strong organizational skills and detail orientation.
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Provide linguistic expertise while delivering data for large language models
• Collaborate with linguists and data operations teams in data collection, data curation, and annotation efforts
• Evaluate and curate data sets for ML models using LLM solutions
• Assess model performance and data quality
• Create guidelines to support labeling projects for consistent language data annotation
• Develop complex and consistent linguistic analyses collaboratively
