Job summary

The State of Oklahoma is seeking a Linen/Clothing Specialist at Claremore Veterans Home to perform laundry, sewing, alterations, and mending tasks. Responsibilities include operating washers, dryers, and presses; sewing and repairing garments; and preparing items for delivery.

Qualifications

• Level I: no formal education or experience required.
• Level II: at least 6 months in laundry or sewing related work.
• Knowledge of sewing techniques and ability to operate a sewing machine and laundry equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operates washers, dryers, mangles, pressers and irons.
• Sews by hand or machine, mends, alters and repairs clothing and linen articles; constructs, maintains and hangs draperies.
• Places clothes on hangers, wraps bundles in paper with identifying tickets, and prepares for delivery.
• Performs minor machine maintenance and repair; cleans and oils machines; and maintains cleanliness of work area.
• Maintains adequate level of sewing materials, clothing and linens for an assigned area; collects, weighs and counts laundry.
