Job summary

Gibson Area Hospital & Health Services is seeking a full-time Laundry Worker to manage linen from chutes through washing, folding, and delivery to hospital units. You will operate a flat ironer and mangle and ensure linen is clean and ready for use.

Responsibilities include pre-sorting, inspecting for wear, recording cart weights, and maintaining a clean, safe work area. Must be able to lift and maneuver heavy loads in a heat-intensive environment and report to the Laundry Supervisor.

Qualifications

• Prefer a high school graduate or equivalent.
• Must have good hand-eye dexterity to use a mangle and complete linen folds.

Responsibilities

• Collect soiled linen from chutes and pre-sort linen.
• Deliver linen to assigned areas and return empty carts.
• Inspect linen for wear, tears, and stains.
• Keep laundry areas and machinery clean and organized.
• Load linen carts and record weights.
• Wash and dry linen and fold using a flat ironer.
• Operate mangle and linen folding equipment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

HOURS & SHIFT REQUIREMENTS: Full-time position - 40 hours weekly. Monday - Friday 9:30 am – 6:30 pm.GENERAL SUMMARYThe laundry worker picks up linen from chute areas, pre-sorts linens, washes linen, folds linen, processes linen, uses flat ironer, weighs linen, records loads, and delivers linen to proper stations. Collects soiled linen from laundry chutes and pre-sorts linen.2. Delivers linen to assigned areas and returns empty carts.3. Inspects linen for wear, tears, and stains.4. Keeps machinery and area in a clean and neat condition.5. Loads linen carts and records the weight of the carts.6. Washes and dries linen.7. Folds linen and uses a flat ironer.8. Performs other tasks which may be assigned.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS1. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, squat, bend, twist, kneel, and push carts.2.
