Job summary

The City of Lubbock seeks a skilled Journeyman Lineman to perform overhead and underground electric distribution and transmission work. You will install, repair, and maintain lines, transformers, switches, and metering equipment while following safety rules and APPA guidelines.

Applicants must have high school diploma or equivalent, four years as an apprentice lineman plus two years as Journeyman, and a valid Commercial Driver's License. On-call duty is required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Four years’ experience as an apprentice lineman and two additional years as a Journeyman Lineman, or equivalent.
• Valid Commercial Driver's License.
• Knowledge of overhead transmission and distribution power delivery systems.
• Operation of aerial devices including bucket trucks and digger derricks.
• Safe work practices per APPA Safety Manual.

Responsibilities

• Perform overhead and underground line construction, maintenance, and repair.
• Troubleshoot system issues to identify causes and repairs.
• Climb poles and operate aerial devices at heights.
• Install and replace lines, equipment, transformers, and switches.
• Work on energized distribution facilities and transformers.
• Attend tailboard/JSA and ensure safety protocols.
