Job summary

AEP in Tulsa, OK is seeking an experienced lineman to install, repair and maintain electrical transmission and distribution lines both overhead and underground. You will work near energized conductors with emphasis on safety and proper grounding practices.

The role requires climbing, bucket work, and ability to operate in varied environments with frequent overtime and travel as needed.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
4+ years line work experience for external candidates and journeyman pre-assessment.
CDL A license required.
Live within 35 miles of work location.
Ability to climb and work at heights.
Willingness to overtime, weekends and travel as required.

Responsibilities

Climbs poles or rides in bucket to install or repair wires, arms, insulators or other hardware on poles.
Installs and repairs underground facilities such as cable, transformers, potheads and pedestals.
Installs pole hardware and such auxiliary equipment as transformers, lightning arresters, switches, fuses and insulators, using hand tools and mechanical devices.
Covers energized lines with rubber goods to facilitate safe handling of high‑voltage lines without interrupting service.
Uses insulated poles (hot sticks) fitted with mechanically or hydraulically operated grasping and crimping tools and/or rubber gloves and sleeves to perform energized line work.
May service streetlight systems.
May patrol power lines.
Perform similar or less skilled work as assigned.
