Job summary

Kids for the Future is seeking a Lineman in Snyder, TX to install, maintain, and repair electrical distribution systems outdoors. You will work under the Distribution Crew Foreman, performing tasks safely in various weather conditions and environments.

The role requires climbing poles/towers, reading blueprints and schematics, and effective communication with the crew. A CDL Class A and 3+ years of lineman experience are essential; apprenticeship experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Valid Class A CDL is required.
  • 3+ years as a lineman; 5 years with DOL apprenticeship preferred.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, electrical schematics, and work orders.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground distribution lines and equipment.
  • Climb poles and towers; operate aerial lift trucks.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and repair faults and outages; test voltage and functionality.
  • Strictly adhere to safety protocols and PPE requirements.
  • Operate tools and machinery such as bucket trucks, digger derricks, and crimping tools.
  • Maintain records of work performed and materials used.

Position Summary:

The Lineman is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical distribution systems. This role requires a high level of skill, safety awareness, and the ability to work in various outdoor environments, often in challenging weather conditions. The Lineman works under the direction of the Distribution Crew Foreman to complete tasks efficiently while ensuring compliance with company standards and safety regulations.

To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, each essential function satisfactorily. Essential Functions:
? Installation & Maintenance: Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground electrical distribution lines, equipment, and devices.

? Climbing & Working at Heights: Climb poles, towers, and operate aerial lift trucks to perform work at elevated heights while following all safety protocols.

? Troubleshooting & Repairs: Identify, troubleshoot, and repair faults and outages in electrical distribution systems, using testing equipment to ensure proper voltage and functionality.

? Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to safety protocols, including the use of PPE, maintaining minimum approach distances, and following company and regulatory safety guidelines.

? Equipment Operation: Operate tools, equipment, and machinery such as bucket trucks, digger derricks, crimping tools, and other lineworker equipment.

? Wire & Cable Work: String, splice, and connect wires and cables, and perform terminations on transformers, switches, and other electrical apparatus.

? Communication: Communicate effectively with the Distribution Crew Foreman and other crew members to ensure clear understanding and execution of tasks.

? Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any issues encountered.

Other Functions:

? Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge of electrical distribution systems, safety practices, and equipment operation.

? Assist with other tasks and projects as directed by the Distribution Crew Foreman.

? Work collaboratively with team members to complete assignments efficiently.

Position Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required.

Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.

Experience & Skills:
Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a lineman required; 5 years of experience and completion of a U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) lineman apprenticeship program preferred.

? Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical schematics, and work orders.

? Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems, safety regulations, and best practices.

? Ability to climb poles/towers and work at elevated heights for extended periods.

? Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
