Job summary

Bird Electric Enterprises in the United States is seeking labor-oriented crew members to assist linemen in installing and repairing cables and wires for electrical power systems, including pole work and line maintenance. You will work under supervision to follow plans and safety protocols on-site.

Preferred candidates hold NCCER Construction Craft Laborer and NCCER Core Curriculum credentials. Must have 3000 documented hours and be ready to use appropriate tools, with a strong emphasis on safety

Qualifications

• Minimum 3000 documented hours and proven DOL approved lineman apprentice program participation.
• Must have all necessary tools (see Lineman helper tool list).
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Use appropriate hand and power tools to properly measure, cut, assemble, install, test or repair cables or wires; and install all other related items in accordance with the applicable plans and specifications.
• Help install, maintain, inspect, test, and repair electrical distribution and transmission systems, including conduits, cables, wires, and related equipment.
• Open switches or attach grounding devices to remove electrical hazards from disturbed or fallen lines or to facilitate repairs.
• Climb poles or use truck-mounted buckets to access equipment.
• Drive vehicles equipped with tools and materials to job sites and travel to inspect lines for integrity.
• Participate in safety processes and report hazards; use stop work authority if needed.
