Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking skilled Lineman A/B/C personnel to install, maintain and inspect transmission and distribution facilities, both overhead and underground, in the Shreveport area. The role progresses from entry to advanced levels with training and assessment.

Residency must be within 25 miles of the Shreveport Service Center; a valid Class A CDL is required and duties include working on energized lines under supervision as skill increases.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year distribution electrical power line work experience, OR one year of related line experience with required internships or certificate.
• Valid Class A CDL is required.
• Must be able to progress through Lineman A/B/C with demonstrated qualifications and pass a physical abilities assessment.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and inspect overhead and underground facilities on de-energized circuits under supervision.
• Work on conductors and equipment energized up to 260–600 volts as skill grows.
• Use electrical test equipment and protective gear for line work.
