Job summary

ABF Freight, an ArcBest company, seeks a Linehaul Supervisor I to lead linehaul operations, plan routes, and supervise drivers in a fast-paced environment.

You will oversee hostling activities, coordinate driver assignments, monitor performance, and ensure DOT/OSHA compliance while maintaining data accuracy and a strong safety culture for a 24/7 operation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; experience considered in lieu of education.
• 2 years of prior transportation or freight experience preferred.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred; able to supervise and discipline drivers.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic data systems.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and utilize available drivers, loads, and equipment resources.
• Develop, maintain, and execute appropriate linehaul plans.
• Provide direct supervision of drivers.
• Coordinate work assignments and monitor performance; contact drivers for assignments.
• Ensure drivers arrive and depart as assigned.
• Update data entries and reporting systems to maintain accurate load and driver statuses.
• Provide training, performance feedback, and disciplinary actions as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment; foster safety culture and DOT/OSHA compliance.
• Work in a team setting to achieve department and Company goals.
• Occasional other duties and projects as assigned.

Job Description
The Linehaul Supervisor I demonstrates excellent problem solving and customer service skills to ensure linehaul operations work is performed according to approved Company procedures, standards, and specification. This position supervises all activities of linehaul for their domicile including, but not limited to, developing and executing linehaul plans, calling and assigning drivers, overseeing arriving and departing drivers and supporting personnel engaged in hostling activities.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise, and utilize available drivers, loads and equipment resources.
• Develop, maintain, and execute appropriate linehaul plans.
• Provide direct supervision of drivers.
• Coordinate work assignments and monitor performances, including contacting drivers for assignment.
• Ensure drivers arrive and depart as assigned.
• Update data entries and other reporting and systems to ensure accurate load and driver statuses.
• Provide training, performance feedback, and disciplinary actions, as needed.
• Provide a clean, safe working environment for all personnel and visiting drivers and customers.
• Foster a culture of safety and ensure compliance with applicable DOT, OSHA, and other related requirements.
• Maintain a positive attitude in a highly intense environment.
• Work in a team setting to accomplish department and Company goals.
• Other duties and projects, as assigned.

Requirements
Education:

• Bachelor's Degree, preferred
• Experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience:

• 2 years prior transportation or other relevant freight experience, preferred
• Prior supervisory experience, preferred

Computer Skills:

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to learn new systems quickly.

Additional Requirements:

• Knowledge of transit time requirements, labor contracts, DOT requirements, and safety requirements.
• Ability to interact with, supervise, and discipline drivers.
• In-office attendance at assigned domicile.

Other Details
Work Hours:

• Work hours for this position will be scheduled to support the 24/7 operation and may vary by location with irregular hours depending on workload.

Travel Requirements:

• Occasional (25%-50%)

Compensation:

• This is a salary position paid biweekly.
• Variable compensation is included.
