Job summary

FedEx is seeking a Linehaul Dispatch Operator in Chicago, IL to execute dispatch of transportation equipment and support capacity optimization. You will enter events in the TMS, verify trailer locations, and ensure safety and on-time deliveries through proactive problem-solving.

The role requires attention to detail, strong communication, and familiarity with Linehaul operations and DOT regulations. Evening shifts and a tentative Sunday-Thursday schedule are noted.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Dispatch or Linehaul operations experience preferred.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation procedures.

Responsibilities

• Dispatches transportation equipment per the Linehaul plan to maximize trailer volume.
• Ensures dispatch and arrival rules are followed per Company procedures.
• Dispatches cargo shipments to meet delivery obligations.
• Enters dispatch events into the TMS to ensure on-time delivery and pickup.
• Verifies equipment location with yard inventories and checks load/unload status.
• Reports missing equipment promptly and conducts yard checks.
• Communicates safety initiatives to maintain a safety-focused culture.
• Investigates delays and equipment failures; implements contingency plans.
• Reviews DOT roadside violations and communicates with management.
• Compiles data and prepares regular and adhoc reports for review.
• Supports BCSA audit activity by retrieving data/files for review.
• Reviews TLCRs to ensure proper completion and performs other duties as assigned.
