Job Description:

Nature of Work:

This role involves responsible, lead technical work in electric distribution system construction (energized at less than 600v), gas distribution system construction (60psi or less), and maintenance and repair activities.

Classification Standards:

Reports to a designated supervisor and works under limited supervision. This position is distinguished from higher classes by lack of supervisory responsibilities and from lower classes by its technical skills and construction knowledge.

Essential Job Functions:

• Construct, maintain, and repair underground energized distribution systems (600v or less).
• Construct, maintain, and repair pressurized gas distribution systems (60 psi or less).
• Direct the work of personnel of equal or lesser classification.
• Install telecommunication systems, cable, and conduit.
• Construct, maintain, and repair overhead and underground electric and gas systems.
• Assist in training subordinates and ensure safety and compliance.
• Respond to emergency situations and perform related duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent, completion of training programs and Operator Qualification, and two years of experience as a Line Technician.

Licenses/Certificates:

Florida CDL Class “A” license required, with additional training and licensing as specified.

Additional Notes:

Must serve standby and reside within 40 minutes of specified Gainesville location, and comply with all safety and training requirements.
