Position Summary

The Line Service Technician I provides outstanding customer service while supporting all ground operations for inbound and outbound aircraft, crews, and passengers. This position also partners closely with other departments - including Charter, Aircraft Maintenance, Valet, and Facilities - to ensure seamless day-to-day operations.

At Clay Lacy Aviation, safety is our highest priority. Line Service Technicians handle fuels and other flammable or hazardous materials and must follow all handling and safety procedures without exception. The airport environment is high-noise and requires the use of personal protective equipment. Because the role involves operating vehicles and moving aircraft near people, buildings, and other aircraft, strict adherence to safety protocols is essential to protect yourself, others, and both company and customer property.

  • Location: Oxford, CT (KOXC)
  • Type: Full-Time (40 hours)
  • Shift: Morning Shift 6:00am - 2:30pm (Candidate must be flexible with days)
  • Compensation: $20.02/hr - $26.34/hr; Eligible for comprehensive Employee Benefits Plan.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug testing and background check.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license in the state the employee’s work location is based in, restricted licenses are not acceptable.
  • Learn and comply with all safety and operating standards of vehicle and passenger safety as well as airport policies
  • Always provide excellent customer service to both internal and external clients.
  • Complete NATA Safety First, Clay Lacy Aviation and other job-related training.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, direct interface, over telephone and in writing.
  • Ability to make decisions with multiple objectives and implement in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Follow oral and written directions; plan and complete assigned duties on a regular schedule; and maintain good working relationships with others.
  • Schedules are subject to change. Employees must be available to work flexible hours as changes occur, examples include overtime, holidays, and covering time-off for the team. All Line Service personnel may be required to work graveyard shifts at some point during their employment at Clay Lacy Aviation.
  • Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks including but not limited to: facility cleaning, vehicle washing, aircraft window cleaning.
  • Ability to work without direct management supervision.
  • Must be comfortable with working outdoors, day, night and in all weather conditions.
  • Fuel aircraft in accordance with ATA Specifications 103 and AirBP GAFO Standards.
  • Marshal aircraft under direct supervision.
  • Ensure aircraft are chocked, and secure.
  • Effectively and safely communicate information and instructions verbally and/or via radio equipment.
  • Aircraft lavatory and potable water service.
  • Safely operate refueling trucks up to 10,000 gallons
  • Load and unload baggage.
  • Assist pilots with aircraft pre and post flight services.
  • Top off fuel trucks and complete proper fuel farm paperwork.
  • Operate light ground support equipment.
  • Provide basic security duties to people and property.
  • Direct people, drivers and flight crews on ramp area.
  • Drive company and client vehicles off site.
  • Assist other departments as required including facility and hangar cleaning.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Position-Specific Skills

The following functions may be performed in variable weather and environmental conditions such as jet engine fumes, dust, or noise.

  • Step up and down stairs, ladders, tugs, vehicles, and fuel trucks
  • Able to engage safely and effectively in gross and fine motor control movements such as operating machinery and handheld tools.
  • Reach above shoulder level including waving marshalling wands.
  • Reach at shoulder level.
  • Execute hand signals in order to guide aircraft during arrivals and departures.
  • Complete tasks safely and effectively that require hand and eye coordination.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull luggage from ground level to waist and overhead, up to 75 lbs.
  • Bending and stooping to pick up tow bars, tools, and other equipment, up to 75 lbs.
  • Stooping below aircraft wing to chock.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time, running when required.
  • Must be able to reason, analyze, and solve problems.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with clients, leadership and others.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Always work safely and effectively.
  • Must work well with others.
  • Must be able to prioritize and multitask in a distracting environment.
