Job summary

Alliant Energy is seeking Apprentice or Journey level Lineman to maintain and repair overhead and underground transmission and distribution lines in Iowa. You will install conductors, climb poles, operate heavy equipment, and restore service after outages. Safety, CPR/First Aid, and DOT/CDL compliance are required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Equivalent to four-year apprenticeship training such as the IBEW Lineman Apprenticeship Course.
  • Journeyman lineman certificate or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Install, tension, tie in and remove conductors on overhead lines.
  • Frame and climb poles and structures; install and disassemble as needed.
  • Operate basket trucks, digger trucks, trenchers, backhoes and related equipment.
  • Restore electric service after weather events or outages safely and promptly.
  • Install underground electrical equipment including cables and switchgear.
  • Follow safety standards and CPR/First Aid protocols.
