Job summary

Biomerics is seeking a Line Lead 1 to coordinate daily production on a designated manufacturing line, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery. This hands-on role requires leading a team, training staff, and maintaining accurate production records in our ERP system.

You will work under the Supervisor to meet production goals, perform line clearance, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives. Prior medical device manufacturing and the ability to lift up to 55 lbs are preferred.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of previous medical device manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to lead and direct a team.
  • Ability to read and comprehend procedures written in English.
  • Ability to complete paperwork accurately in English.
  • Ability to work safely around chemicals and equipment.
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods.
  • Ability to do repetitive work, requiring strong dexterity and hand/eye coordination.

Responsibilities

Job Description:

Line Lead 1 is responsible for coordinating daily production activities on a designated manufacturing line. This role is hands-on and focused on executing supervisor direction, ensuring safety, quality, and delivery goals are met while learning and developing leadership

Requirements

Safety:

  • Adheres to safety and environmental procedures. Wears appropriate PPE. Knows emergency procedures. Reports unsafe conditions and proposes and implements safety improvements to supervisor. Assures that others follow safety requirements.

Quality:

  • Follows procedures and instructions to meet product quality requirements. Follow Good Documentation Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices. Assures that others follow quality and cleanroom requirements.
  • Escalates problems with quality, processes, equipment, or materials to the Supervisor. Identifies opportunities for improvement and assists with implementation
  • Review and complete line clearance, batch records, training records, and other documentation as required. Complete and close work orders in our ERP system.
  • Assign daily tasks to team members.
  • Communicate clear instructions to team members.
  • Manage the flow of day-to-day operations.
  • Train new team members.
  • Oversee continuous training and skill development within the team.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as maintaining inventory accuracy and accurately reporting production work orders.
  • Performs and may oversee routine quality in-process inspections
  • Follow the process of pulling materials from inventory for use in production and returning remaining materials to inventory upon completion of work orders.
  • Report quality issues, assist the team with root cause investigations, and containment of defective products.

Delivery & Cost:

  • The Line Lead Operator reports directly to the Supervisor. The Supervisor will provide scheduling priorities, manage staffing plans, and ensure business goals are met. Line Lead works with the production team to ensure daily and weekly production schedules are met.
  • Will assign daily tasks to team members and manage flow of production. Must be able to communicate clear instructions to the team.
  • Understand and perform all requirements of a machine operator.
  • Oversee the utilization of all machine operators on the shift, including line cuts, breaks, lunches, and covering absentees as needed.
  • Ability to lead a simple production line.
  • Recognizes malfunctioning machinery/ equipment. Requests assistance from Lead, Supervisor or Technician. Can perform basic troubleshooting
  • Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process, and quality system and initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities.
  • Initiate improvements and work with team and supervisor to implement solutions.
  • Control further processing, delivery, or installation of any nonconforming products until the unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • Control the flow of finished goods and ensure proper labels are used, packaging is correct, routers have all required information, etc.
  • Oversee training of team members and ensure that they are following procedures and instructions. Develop team member skills and give feedback to team members.
  • Complete complex tasks independently
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions.
  • Physically locate and maintain designated inventory within the production and other general areas as necessary to improve inventory accuracy and minimize waste.
  • Work with supervisor to support cross-functional collaboration with Quality, Engineering, HR, and Supply Chain to resolve systemic issues and improve processes.
  • Serve as back-up to the Supervisor in their absence.
  • Initiate improvements and work with team and supervisor to implement solutions
  • Support Line Lead 2 with continuous improvement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies and leading implementation of solutions.
  • Works with Supervisor to Oversee training programs, ensuring team members are certified and compliant with SOPs and GMP standards
  • Role Model and promote a culture of safety, quality, and accountability across all teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.
