Job summary

Arc Broward, a nonprofit in Fort Lauderdale, is seeking a Line Cook II to support contract meal production and maintain clean, safe kitchen areas.

You will assist in preparing meals, train a small group of staff, and help with catering functions as needed. The role offers full-time hours and a competitive $17.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent (can be substituted for experience).
• 1–3 years’ work experience in the food service industry. Assisted living facility, catering or restaurant experience is a plus.
• Must successfully complete required screening: Level II background check, physical and drug screen.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to work in a team.
• Effective communication skills with verbal and written English fluency is required.
• Ability to walk short distances.

Responsibilities

• Assists in preparing contract meals in accordance with the daily/weekly menus needs and requirements.
• Assist the chef with training a small group of individuals to become food service workers.
• Keeps food and beverage service supplies operating efficiently by enforcing adherence to operating instructions.
• Prepare and cook all menu items as required while complying with Arc Broward policies on quality, quantity, sanitation, and portion control.
• Help maintain the kitchen and food storage areas in an efficient, clean, and organized manner.
• Assist in catering functions in preparation, setup, and delivery. In the chef’s absence ability to prepare meals while supervising trainees and other related responsibilities.
